“Okay, I need you take one of my patients because I can’t anymore.” She sighed, knowing that wasn’t explanation enough.
Neely’s eyes widened. “You’ve never deferred a patient to me before.”
“Trust me on this one, I have to. Plus, you’re the only one I trust with him.” She could feel herself start to relax. The more she talked about him, the better it felt to get things off her chest.
Neely huffed, blowing a piece of her ebony hair out of her face. “On a scale of one to ten, how much trouble are you in?”
Addison cringed. “Eleven.” She closed her eyes, waiting for her bestie to say something. When the silence continued, she gave Neely a sideways glance.
Neely stood there, her plump red lips in the shape of a perfect “O”. Then she sprang into action, grabbing Addison and dragging her through the door.
Addison stumbled behind her. “What are you doing?”
“If we’re going to do this, I need a drink. And for sure this is doctor-patient confidentiality.” She looked at the somber hostess, holding up two perfectly sculpted red-tipped nails. “Two please.”
“But I’m not your patient,” Addison countered.
“For tonight you are. Let’s just cover our asses.” Addison nodded in agreement, her mess of hair falling around her shoulders and into her face.
The hostess, a small woman with plain brown hair pulled back from her porcelain face, didn’t crack a smile. “Right this way.”
“What is it with places like this? They only hire people with resting bitch face?” Neely mumbled to Addison. Addison giggled, but her genuine smile had failed her. Neely looped her arm through Addison’s. “We’ll figure this all out. Nice shoes by the way.”
“Damn shoes,” she mumbled under her breath as they slid into a booth at the back of the bar.
“Your server will be with you in a moment.” Still, the hostess showed no sign of personality.
“Thank you,” Neely said without looking up. Instead, her unwavering gaze was on Addison. “So spill. What’s going on?”
“I don’t see a drink in front of me yet, do you?”
Neely giggled. “No, I guess not. At least describe your patient to me.”
Addison groaned. “According to Jeffrey, he’s tall, dark and delicious, or was it gorgeous?” She sighed. “He’s just overwhelming, like he takes up the whole fucking room with his commanding tight ass and perfect abs.”
“Whoa, how do you know he’s commanding? And he had a tight ass? And perfect abs?”
Before Addison could answer, their server arrived. “Hello, I’ll be your server. My name is Mark.” He sighed and rolled his eyes, like it was a hassle for him to do his job. “What can I get you ladies to drink?” He tossed two napkins in the middle of the table.
“I’ll have a Grey Goose martini, three olives, dirty,” Addison blurted out.
Neely’s eye widened. “So we’re putting our big girl pants on tonight? Perfect.”
“Your order, miss,” the irritated server prompted.
“Seriously, do they pay you people to be this blah?” Neely snapped. Addison let out a bark of laughter as Neely abused the waiter. “I’ll have the same as her. And don’t spit in my drink, you know you deserved that. And don’t give me the cheap shit either. I can tell.”
For a second, Mark smiled, then quickly wiped it off his face. “I’ll be right back.”
“See? I told you they get paid to be dicks,” Neely declared triumphantly.
Addison couldn’t help but relax back into the cushy booth. As her friend lightened the mood, she ran her hands through her hair smoothing out the craziness.
Neely sat back as well. “Look, I’ll take any patient you want me to. And you don’t have to tell me why, but as your best friend, I might beat it out of you.” A moment later, their drinks were sitting in front of them. Neely held up her glass, examining the contents. “Four olives.” She peeked over at their waiter. Addison watched as he winked at her bestie. Neely smiled victoriously. “Paid to be a dick. Unreal.”
“He’s cute for a preschooler.” Cute like a wounded animal. Nothing like Decland and his shark-like gaze.
Taking a sip of her drink, Neely fanned herself. “Damn, that’s strong.”
Addison downed half her drink within seconds. She could feel the slight burn as the chilled liquid slid down her throat and slammed into her stomach.
Neely looked at her with raised eyebrows. “So… do tell, my friend. What is the issue?”
Addison held up one finger, taking another sip. “You want me to spill the part about where I fucked one of my patients in a club or that I nearly did it again a few hours ago?”
Neely’s deep hazel eyes bulged in shock. “Holy shit.”
“Yeah.”
“What the fuck were you thinking?! Fucking a patient, seriously?”
The way she said it made it sound just as bad as it actually was. Addison wanted to curl into a ball and hide somewhere. “I didn’t know he was my patient when I did it the first time.”
“Wait a second… you didn’t know he was your patient when you slept with him?”
“Had no idea. It was the first time I’d ever done anything like that and then boom! A few days later, he’s sitting in my office.”
Neely scoffed. “Stalker much?”
“No, he didn’t know it was me.” Addison paused. Was she actually defending him? Possibly….
“What kind of freaky shit are you into?” Neely laughed then took a sip of her drink, slashing her hands through the air. “You know what? I don’t even want to know. If you didn’t know he was your patient, and he didn’t know you were his therapist, then it’s all good.” She gave Addison a level stare. “As long as you aren’t sleeping with him now…”
“I’m not sleeping with him now.”
“But you want to,” Neely pointed out.
She sighed. “Ugh, I know I want to.”
“Hence, why you want me to take over?”
“Noooooo, I want you to take over so I don’t have to see the fuckable bastard and his V anymore.” Addison finished her drink, looked up at Mark and signaled for another round.
“His V?”
“Dude, the V. You know, the flat lower abs that make that V-cut down to the happy place. It’s like an arrow pointing down. You can’t help but follow.”
“Oh, God. He’s got a V?” Neely sighed, fanning herself for a whole other reason.
“Yeah, it’s like that.”
“Are you sure you don’t want to see him and the V again?”
Addison popped an olive in her mouth, savoring the sharp flavor. “Oh, I want to. I’m just not going to. He makes me all gahhh.” She shook her head like she was spazzing out. Only a best friend would understand that emotion.
“Translation: he makes you lose your shit, and you like to be in control.”
“Yeah,” Addison admitted.
“You know the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.”
Addison scoffed. “You know that’s not true, but it’s not a bad idea.”
“Sleeping with someone you didn’t know is what got you in this mess in the first place.”
“I’m not going to sleep with someone, but a date to distract me might be good.” She looked at Neely hopefully.
Neely sighed. “I’ll set you up with a friend, but you know you’re going to want the one who’s trouble.”
“I know, but I’ve got to try.”
Mark arrived with their second round. He quickly placed the drinks on the table with a slight smile. “Anything else, ladies?”
“How about a date for my friend here?” Neely teased.
Mark looked Addison up and down. “No, thanks.” Addison gave him her nastiest fuck off face. He didn’t flinch. “How about you?” he countered, turning to Neely.
Neely laughed. “While I’m flattered, I’m too old for you.”
“Older women are like fine wine. They get better with age,” he a
nswered quickly.
Addison could feel the laughter bubbling up her throat. Try as she might to contain it, she couldn’t help but let it slip out. Neely did a much better job of holding it back with just a small snicker. “Okay, first, don’t ever use that line again. Second, younger men are like puppies in training—they’ll hump your leg for shits and giggles. And probably still never know where to put it. You’re better off with someone your own age.”
Mark shrugged with a hint of laughter. “Can’t fault a guy for trying.”
“No, you can’t,” Neely agreed. “Just keep the drinks coming.”
“Yes, ma’am.” He gave her his best baby-faced smile as he walked away.
“I mean, seriously, why can’t I have a hot, fuckable bastard like you do?” she whined, turning back to Addison.
Addison nearly spit out her drink. “I do not have a fuckable bastard.”
“Well, heads up, girl, because there is a group of man candy headed our way. If you don’t have one, we can try and get you one right now. ”
Neely had a perfect view of the door while Addison had her back turned away from it. It didn’t matter, though. No other men would catch her attention. They’d pale in comparison to Decland. As the hostess passed their table, two large men in tailored suits followed, both very attractive. Addison watched as Neely smiled at them as they walked by. As the third man passed, he shot Addison a glance as he continued to follow. Her blood halted in her veins. This can’t be happening. The man froze and spun around quickly. Addison’s eyes widened as the cause of all her anxiety approached the table.
He stood at the edge of the table smiling down at her, his vivid emerald eyes dancing with dirty suggestions. He bent over, placing one hand on the table and the other on the back of the booth next to Addison’s head. He bent in slowly, his eyes locked on hers. For a moment, there was no one else in the room except for him. His lips brushed her cheek. She could feel the small tickle from his five o’clock shadow caress her skin. “Addison.” Her name rolled off his tongue like a prayer. “Good to see again so soon.”
His deep, woodsy smell enveloped her. She locked her muscles trying not to squirm in her seat. Wanting to get closer to him, she held still, barely breathing, barely containing her desire. As he pulled away, he chuckled softly, knowing exactly what he was doing to her. Addison sat with her mouth gaping, unable to find any response. Suddenly, a sharp kick smacked into her knee from under the table. She shook her head, clearing the fog of horniness that engulfed her anytime Decland was around. She cleared her throat. “This is my friend Neely.”
Decland extended his hand out toward Neely. “Decland Wallace. Nice to meet you.”
Neely reached for his hand, shooting Addison a holy shit, he’s hot look as his large hand swallowed hers completely. “It’s nice to meet you.”
An awkward silence settled over them, like just talking about him had brought her dirtiest dreams right to her. Decland slid his hands into his pockets and smiled. “Well, I better not keep my party waiting. It was really good to see you again, Addison.”
Addison nodded, still unable to speak. Neely kicked her again. At this rate she was going to have bruises up her legs. “Yes, nice to see you, too.”
As he turned to leave, he unbuttoned his jacket. “A pleasure, Neely.”
Addison watched as his perfect ass walked across the room. He slid into a table purposely facing her direction. He could look at her all night, and at this rate she wouldn’t be able to tear her gaze away from him.
“Um… hello.” Neely snapped her fingers in front of Addison’s face.
She quickly focused on her friend. “Yes? What did you just say?”
“You’ve got it bad.”
Her eyes flashed to Decland for a moment. He was placing his order with Mark. She sighed, knowing Neely was right. “I have it so bad.”
“I can’t blame you.”
Addison’s eyes widened. “Really?”
“He really is a fuckable bastard. And what is up with that hair?”
Addison laughed. “I know, right? It always looks like he’s just been getting it on.”
“For real. A constant state of sexual appeal. It’s got to be exhausting to be that damn sexy.” Neely stirred the remnants of her drink then downed the last few drops.
“Now you know why I can’t be his therapist anymore.”
Before Addison’s drink was finished, Mark rushed over with another round. He placed them on the table carefully. “This is from that table of gentlemen right over there.” He pointed toward Decland, who raised his glass tumbler and nodded slightly. Mark cleared his throat. “He says I’m to keep them coming for as long as you like, and all the drinks are on him.”
Neely smiled as she held her glass to her lips. “I’m not gonna say no to that.”
Addison reached for her glass, held it up, nodded her head in thanks then took a huge sip. She was officially on her way to getting completely shit-faced. But wasn’t quite there yet. “Neither am I.”
Mark turned and walked away brusquely. Neely sighed as she leaned back into the plush booth. “So what are you going to do?”
“About?”
“About the fuckable bastard that you clearly need to give it up to.” She laughed. “Seriously, that is one man you cannot pass up.”
“He wouldn’t be into it for the long haul. He’s more of a love ’em and leave ’em type.” Unfortunately.
“I didn’t say you had to marry the guy. But when are you ever going to get a chance like this with a man like that again?”
She had a point. Decland Wallace was like a high-end champagne. Completely delicious but something you could only afford on special occasions. “That’s true.”
“Once I take him as my patient, I say you let this Decland Wallace rattle your box until fucking waterfalls come out.” She winked, flipping her long dark hair over her shoulder.
“Ugh. Thank you for that visual. Yuck.”
Neely raised her nearly empty glass. “A toast to you and your new fuckable bastard. May he grant you multiple orgasms.”
Addison giggled as she touched her glass to Neely’s. “All I need to do now is tell him I can’t be his therapist anymore.” As she took a deep drink, her body started to feel light and fuzzy.
How many have I had? Three? Four? Shrugging it off, she looked over at him again. The moment her eyes lingered on his face, he turned from his conversation, staring at her like he was on the hunt. It sent a small shiver down her spine. She slowly rose to her feet. “I’ll be right back.”
“Where are you going?”
“Bathroom.” She straightened her skirt as she headed toward the back of the restaurant. His eyes locked on her the moment she stood. As she passed his table, she ran her finger over his shoulder, never turning back. The long hallway that led to the bathroom was practically pitch black with only track lighting running the length of the hall. As she approached the bathroom, she could feel him following her at a distance. Not quite ready to be caught, she stepped into the ladies’ room and took a quick look at herself. Her face was relaxed, her eyes wide with excitement and her hair flowed around her face in big waves. She ran a paper towel under the faucet dampening it, and dabbed it on the back of her neck then under her chin. She smiled to herself as she reached for the door knowing what was waiting on the other side.
She’d barely stepped into the dark hallway when he wrapped his warm hand around her arm and pulled her toward the men’s room. Before she could process what was happening, she was pushed up against the door. The sound of the lock flipping behind her echoed off of the cold, dark tile. “That’s not very nice. What if someone needs to use the bathroom?”
He stepped in closer, his body flush up against hers. She could feel his hard cock pressing into her stomach; her nipples budded at the intimate contact. His lips were at her ear. “I don’t give a shit who needs to get in here. Right now, I need it more than they do,” he whispered as he ran his hands over her breasts, hi
s thumbs rubbing little circles over her all-too-sensitive breasts.
A slight moan escaped her lips. “Really? Why do you need it more than they do?”
“After the show you gave me today, I’ve been like this.” He grabbed her hand and rubbed it on his hard length through his pants.
“Oh, poor baby,” she teased as she cupped him lightly. His body jerked at the contact, a wordless hiss escaping his lips.
Decland slid his hand down her body, grabbing her ass before he moved farther down. He fisted the hem of her skirt and started to slide it up. “Are we wearing panties, Doctor Tyler?” When his fingers brushed the soft fabric covering her core, he sighed. “You know I hate it when you’re all covered up.” He pulled them to the side exposing her slick core to the cool air.
Addison parted her legs farther making it easier for him to touch her. All thoughts had left her—not why she shouldn’t be doing this, not the consequences of her actions. No, all she could focus on was Decland and his hand that was hovering just out of reach. She needed more; her body was begging her to give into this man. She slid her fingers toward his belt buckle, all but ripping it open. The button on his pants was next. While he hesitated over her moist core, Addison couldn’t wait any longer. She slid her hand into his pants, immediately going for his rock hard cock, pulling him free. He sprung loose, heavy and wanting in the palm of her hand. As she wrapped her fingers around him, she held on as tightly as she could, her fingers never meeting as she wound them around him. The heat between them was palpable. Desire like she’d never felt before coursed through her. With heavy-lidded eyes, she looked up at him, his eyes wide as she pumped her hand up his length.
With a low, pleasure-filled groan, his eyes rolled into his head. “Jesus.”
